The Los Angeles Kings need to add more supplementary scoring to their lineup. Dustin Brown and Marian Gaborik, two of the team’s highest-paid players, have severely regressed in the last few seasons. They’ve also lost out on key free agents in the last few years due to cap space, most notably the retention of Milan Lucic after paying a hefty price to acquire him from Boston. To fill in those much-needed goals, though, could they look up the coast? A report suggests that the Kings have been ‘in contact’ with former San Jose Sharks captain Joe Thornton, potentially gauging his interest in making a run for the Stanley Cup with the 2012 and 2014 champions.
