It looks like any fears the D-backs would lose catcher Miguel Montero as a free agent can be put to bed. According to MLB writer Jon Morosi, the team and its catcher have agreed to a five-year extension. Montero, 28, is hitting .255 with two home runs and 21 RBI on the season, but really came into his own last year when he posted a .282 average with 18 home runs and 86 RBI. He made the All-Star team for the first time, and developed into a sound defensive catcher, too.
