Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann is confident that he'll be ready to play by Opening Day, according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman. McCann underwent shoulder surgery in late October. The procedure was expected to keep him out of action for six months, which would have him to return by late April. But McCann believes his rehab is ahead of schedule, saying it would be hard to watch the Braves play their first regular-season game if he was "feeling good." McCann is expected to begin throwing by the end of the week. He may start swinging a bat in two weeks. McCann, 28, is entering a crucial season coming off the injury. McCann, who is in a contract year, is slated to be a free agent at the conclusion of the 2013 season.
