Aston Villa and Newcastle United are reportedly both interested in signing Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain.
Calciomercato are claiming new Old Lady manager Andrea Pirlo wants to offload the 32-year-old, and that officials are seeing about terminating his contract.
Speaking in a press conference, Pirlo said (as quoted by Football Italia): “But we decided that our paths must be divided. He was a great champion, but the cycles end. He was put aside but as a serious person, we spoke to each other and made this decision.”
Higuain has been with Juve since transferring from Real Madrid in 2016 for a whopping £75.3 million (BBC Sport), which was the third-biggest football transfer ever at the time.
Calciomercato say Villa and Newcastle are now interested in the three-time Serie A winner, as well as West Ham United and Premier League new boys Fulham.
