Now that the Redskins have made their draft picks it’s time to take a look at the roster and see what they have in terms of numbers. Before signing any undrafted free agents, the Redskins had 73 players on their roster. The link, by the way, is to the roster on Redskins.com. As of this posting you will find 74 names there but they have not removed Darius Hanks from the list. He was waived last week. Add in the seven draft picks and you have a total of 80 players who count towards the 90-man roster limit. Note that players who had been drafted but not yet signed now count towards the limit. Prior to 2012, when the offseason limit was expanded from 80 to 90, draft picks did not count until they signed. That means that they have the roster room to sign 10 undrafted free agents. You may be confused by this as there are many lists of undrafted player signees floating around the Internet that have anywhere from 15 to 18 signings attributed to the Redskins. This is because there is often confusion about players who were invited for a tryout and those who actually signed contracts.
