Reds setup man Jonathan Broxton has been placed on the 15-day disabled, retroactive to Friday, with a right elbow flexor mass strain, the club announced Saturday. As a corresponding move, right-hander Pedro Villarreal has been recalled from Triple-A Louisville. Broxton, 28, was used in emergency Thursday against the Cubs in the 14th inning -- despite the availability of closer Aroldis Chapman -- and took the loss. He had been dealing with elbow soreness prior to the outing and had the issue examined upon the Reds' return to Cincinnati.
