The Reds acquired veteran Mark Teahen from Arizona on Tuesday night, the Diamondbacks announced. The Reds will send either cash or a player to be named to Arizona in exchange for the 31-year-old. Teahen will provide depth for the Reds’ Triple-A affiliate in Louisville, Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said Wednesday morning. Jason Donald, who was acquired in the trade that brought the Reds Shin-Soo Choo, recently suffered a shoulder injury to his right shoulder and is expected to have an MRI soon. He is expected to be out for an extended period of time. Donald played second base, shortstop and left field for the Bats. In his big league career, Teahen has played all three outfield positions, first base, second base and third base. He’s mostly played third base in his six seasons in the big leagues, the first five with the Royals. He’s a career .264/.327/.409 hitter. He hit a career-best 18 home runs in 2006, his second year in the majors.
