There are two ways to view the injury that will keep Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard out of Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Little Caesars Arena. The timing is bad, considering Howard is playing his best hockey of the season the past couple of weeks and the Red Wings are facing the best team in the NHL. But the timing also is good, since the Red Wings have their five-day 'bye week' starting Monday, giving Howard more time to recover from what coach Jeff Blashill said is a lower-body injury suffered during the second period of Friday's 4-2 victory over the Florida Panthers. Blashill described it as a day-to-day injury, and it didn't force Howard to leave the game (he finished with 38 saves).
