The Red Sox have declined their end of outfielder Tommy Pham’s mutual option for 2023, according to Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe. Pham is now a free agent.

Pham’s contract, which he signed with the Reds in March before being traded to the Red Sox at the trade deadline, included a $12 million mutual option for 2023. That means both the Red Sox and Pham would have to opt in at that price. Mutual options are rarely exercised. Boston will pay Pham a $1.5 million buyout instead.
