The Red Sox officially released catcher Kevin Plawecki on Monday. By Tuesday, he’ll likely have a new team.

Plawecki, who was designated for assignment after Friday’s game, was cut loose by the organization 72 hours later, meaning he’s eligible to sign with any club. According to multiple industry sources, Plawecki already has a deal lined up with an undisclosed club. That team appears to be the Rangers, who are very interested in the veteran backstop, according to FanSided’s Robert Murray, The Dallas Morning News’ Evan Grant and others. Plawecki could be added to Texas’ roster as soon as Tuesday afternoon.
