Tommy Kahnle could be returning to the American League East.
Masslive.com’s Chris Cotillo reports the “Red Sox have made a push to sign reliever Tommy Kahnle. @alexspeier first mentioned interest. Seems like there’s a chance it comes together soon but I’m told other teams remain in the mix.”
Last week, the New York Post’s Jon Heyman reported “Tommy Kahnle has 10 plus teams expressing interest after strong September return with Dodgers (0.63 WHIP, 2.84 ERA). Ex Yankee also benefits from demand outstripping supply in relief market.”
Kahnle missed three months last season with forearm inflammation before returning to the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen for the stretch run. He even got a shot at closer with Craig Kimbrel in the midst of a late-season meltdown.
