On Tuesday, Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh said he was confident that former Rutgers running back Ray Rice will rebound in from the worst season of his career. If so, Rice will do it with a new running backs coach. The Ravens fired Wilbert Montgomery on Friday, though head coach John Harbaugh insisted in a statement that Montgomery “has decided to pursue other coaching and life opportunities." Rice, who battled shoulder and hip injuries, gained 660 yards rushing this past season, the first time he failed to run for at least 1,100 yards in his five years as the Ravens’ starting running back. His 3.1 yards per carry were the third-worst average among starters, and he heard it from fantasy football owners who attacked him on Twitter.
Ray Rice's lousy season apparently led to firing of Ravens' coach Wilbert Montgomery
