Trailing by six points at halftime and shut out over the first 30 minutes the Ravens made just enough plays in the second half to avoid starting 0-2. Bernard Pierce scored on a 5-yard run in the third quarter and Joe Flacco hit rookie wide receiver Marlon Brown for a 5-yard touchdown in the fourth as the Ravens downed the Cleveland Browns 14-6 in front of an announced 71098 at M&T Bank Stadium. The Ravens' defense sacked Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden five times and shut out the visitors in the second half to secure their 11th straight victory over the Browns. Despite improving to 1-1 the Ravens exited the game with a host of questions including one on the health of Pro Bowl running back Ray Rice. He fell to the ground clutching his left hip in the fourth quarter and never returned. It also was an uneven performance for Flacco who was 22 of 33 for 211 yards and a touchdown. Flacco played despite learning about two hours before the game that his wife Dana had given birth to the couple’s second child. The Ravens finally got something going on offense on their first drive of the third quarter. The Ravens started the drive with a 14-yard run by Rice and continued it on three different occasions with Flacco hitting Torrey Smith Marlon Brown and Brandon Stokley.
