Gophers star receiver Rashod Bateman announced Wednesday he has been reinstated by the NCAA to play the 2020 college football season.
“I’d like to thank (athletics director) Mark Coyle, Coach (P.J.) Fleck and the NCAA for allowing me to compete again with my brothers,” Bateman said in a video posted on social media.
Bateman, the 2019 Big Ten receiver of the year, opted out of the 2020 season on Aug. 4 and after the condensed schedule was announced, he decided to opt back in Sept. 18. Bateman signed with an agent, received financial benefits and had to go through the NCAA’s Student-Athlete Reinstatement process to re-obtain his eligibility.
