By the time the Raptors returned home on Wednesday night, their playoff may have been determined. At least Toronto did its part, rebounding from a near-miss in Cleveland to knock off the host Celtics 99-90. With the win, Toronto’s magic number to earn a post-season berth was reduced to one, official entry into the NBA’s playoffs a done deal if New York lost a late-night tip in Sacramento. The playoffs haven’t been a part of the NBA scene in Toronto since 2006 and this group, while not necessary built for the post-season, has fight and, as long as Kyle Lowry can stand on his feet, they’ve got a chance to be competitive. When Terrence Ross is being active and draining threes, offensive options open up, but defence is what separates teams in the playoffs.
