Right-hander Tim Lincecum is expected to join the Texas Rangers in the coming days after attending the funeral of his older brother, who passed away last week in the Seattle area. Services for Sean Leo Lincecum, 37, are scheduled for Saturday. Tim Lincecum agreed to join the Rangers after the death, and they don't expect that the untimely passing will alter his decision to resume his career. To that end, Lincecum has been in the area to arrange his living accommodations for camp and to undergo scans on his shoulder and elbow. He was to fly to Seattle on Friday afternoon. Lincecum, 33, must still meet with team physician Dr. Keith Meister and be cleared before the deal can be made official, a source said. He is expected to fill a multiple-innings role in the bullpen but is also a potential candidate to serve as closer.
