With one week remaining until a scheduled arbitration hearing, the Texas Rangers believe they are close to working out a one-year deal with first baseman-designated hitter Mitch Moreland. General manager Jon Daniels said on Wednesday that the sides are getting close to an agreement. The Rangers originally offered a 330 percent raise to a salary of $2.025 million. Moreland requested $3.25 million. The midpoint, often the settlement figure is $2.648 million.
