The Rangers as they proved again in Monday night's Game 163 will need to add offense this winter. One name to watch closely: Brian McCann. McCann the Braves catcher will be one of the most popular players on the free-agent market. He won't come cheap even though the Braves aren't expected to try to re-sign him. But the Rangers may be at the top of the list of teams that covet him. The Rangers have repeatedly tried to trade for McCann according to sources and had scouts following the Braves closely apparently to watch McCann. The Rangers went to the free-agent market for a catcher last winter first looking at Russell Martin and eventually signing A.J. Pierzynski to a one-year deal. The 36-year-old Pierzynski wasn't able to duplicate his 2012 White Sox numbers. His home run total dropped from a career-high 27 back down to 17 and his OPS went from .827 back down to .722.
