Rangers closer Neftali Feliz avoided the full Calvin Schiraldi treatment in the World Series. As Schiraldi did with Boston in 1986, Feliz failed to get the final strike that would have closed out the World Series in six games. David Freese lined an outside fastball off the right-field wall for a game-tying triple in the ninth inning of Game 6. Schiraldi also lost Game 7, allowing three runs in 1/3 of an inning. The Rangers did not use Feliz on Friday in the 6-2 loss to St. Louis in Game 7. Schiraldi, a former Texas Longhorn, never pitched for Boston again. He was traded to the Chicago Cubs in December 1987. He also pitched with San Diego and the Rangers, making the final three appearances of his career with them in 1991.
