The Texas Rangers have claimed pitcher Edwar Colina on waivers today and placed him on the 60 day injured list, the team announced today. In addition, the team announced that pitcher Wes Benjamin, who was designated for assignment on Sunday, October 3, has cleared waivers and been outrighted.

Colina, 24, is a righthanded pitcher who has only faced 7 batters since the start of 2020, with an 81.00 ERA in 0.1 IP in 2020 for the Twins. He missed all of this season due to elbow inflammation that ultimately necessitated arthroscopic debridement surgery in May. In 2019, Colina had a 2.96 ERA in 97.1 innings over 14 starts and 5 relief appearances, with 102 Ks against 32 walks between high-A, AA and 4.2 IP in AAA. He was the 26th ranked prospect in the Twins system per BA prior to 2020 and the 21st ranked prospect in the Twins system per BA prior to 2021.
