Pekka Rinne's chances at the Vezina Trophy are likely a longshot. He has the highest goals against average of the three finalists (the other two are Jonathan Quick of Los Angeles and Henrik Lundqvist of New York) and the lowest save percentage. Both are the main metrics used to determine the award. But those who saw Rinne often know that he faced a difficult task of keeping the Predators in games during a tough early season stretch. Remember, Niclas Bergfors saw some decent offensive minutes during the first month of the season. One player who understands this is Quick, the Conn Smythe Trophy winner of the 2012 postseason. "Pekka is one of the best goalies in the league for a reason," Quick said. "He has been one of the best goalies the past few years. You see how big he is and a lot of goalies who have his size are playing with not nearly as much athleticsm he has. To see the saves he makes on a daily basis, he steals more games for his team probably than anyone in the league, so he's here."
Quick compliments Rinne
