Texas junior quarterback David Ash has been cleared to resume full football activities, the school announced Saturday evening. He is expected to be a full participant in spring practice. Ash missed all but three games of the 2013 season with recurring concussion-like symptoms from a concussion he suffered in the second game of the year against BYU. He played in the first half against Kansas State two weeks later, but exited the game at halftime and did not play the remainder of the season. Case McCoy replaced Ash as the starter for the rest of the season as the Longhorns finished with an 8-5 record. Ash is expected to compete with freshman quarterback Tyrone Swoopes for the starting job next season.
