Class of 2014 point guard Mitchell Wilbekin committed to Wake Forest on Monday, five days after fellow point guard Shelton Mitchell was granted a release from the letter of intent he had signed with Wake. Wilbekin, whose brother, Scottie, was the 2014 SEC Player of the Year as a Florida senior, signed with Tulsa before new Wake coach Danny Manning left the Golden Hurricane. The 6-foot-1 Wilbekin, who averaged 14.9 points, 2.8 assists and 2.1 steals as a senior at The Rock School in Gainesville, Florida, received his release from Tulsa in late April. Former Wake coach Jeff Bzdelik and his staff had recruited Mitchell, who plans to visit California, Vanderbilt, Missouri and Oregon, according to Phenom Hoop Report analyst Jamie Shaw.
