On the injured list since April 4 with a right posterior shoulder strain, Pirates outfielder Corey Dickerson will start a rehab assignment on Friday with Class AAA Indianapolis. The Indians are playing a short drive away, in Columbus, Ohio.

Dickerson has appeared in just four games this season, with two hits in 13 at-bats.

Last season, his first with the Pirates, Dickerson won a Gold Glove in left field while slashing .300/.330/.474, slicing his strikeout rate to 15 percent from 24.2 the previous season.

Dickerson began throwing to bases on Tuesday and has been taking swings in the cage, too, including Wednesday when he faced Keone Kela in the reliever’s 21-pitch simulated game.
