The Cleveland Browns are re-signing cornerback Phillip Gaines according to Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle.

Gaines is 6-0, 193 pounds and in his fifth NFL season out of Rice. Originally selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Gaines has appeared in 52 career games with 22 starts. He has totaled 135 tackles, 16 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one interception in his career. He spent four years (2014-17) with the Chiefs before signing with the Buffalo Bills, where he started six of his seven games and recorded 30 tackles this season. The Browns claimed him off waivers from the Bills on Nov. 7. He played in four games this season with the Browns and recorded just nine tackles.

Gaines is a native of Concord, Mass.
