Pep Guardiola has issued Gabriel Jesus a challenge as the Brazilian striker stands on the verge of signing an improved contract at Manchester City. The 20-year-old is set for a significant pay rise after opening negotiations over a new deal just nine months since his £27m move from Palmeiras. It is recognition of his outstanding start to his career at the Etihad, which has seen him establish himself as one of the deadliest strikers in the Premier League - and provide a serious threat to Sergio Aguero’s position at City. But Guardiola insists he has much to improve if he is to be considered among the very best in the world. Jesus could sign his new deal as soon as next month, which is expected to see him earn a significant increase on his current salary, believed to be around £70,000-a-week. But Guardiola was quick to send him a reminder that he is still not the finished article.
