No one has ever questioned Dustin Pedroia's heart. It would be impossible to do that this season, especially after he partially tore the adductor muscle in his right thumb on May 28. He never went on the disabled list, missing six games, but because of the injury, he struggled at the plate. Pedroia wore a guard around his thumb and even tried using different bats, but it didn't work. After hitting .295 before the injury, his average dropped and he finds himself batting .211 (16-for-76) in June.
