Paul Pogba is reportedly ‘excited’ about the idea of playing with Jadon Sancho at Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it clear to Old Trafford bosses he wants to sign the Borussia Dortmund winger this summer as he looks to strengthen his attacking options.
United’s transfer plans are starting to become clear with Nemanja Matic signing a new long-term deal on Monday.
And with Pogba now looking likely to stay at United, journalist David Ornstein claims moves for the likes of Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish and Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek could now be shelved.
“Somebody has told me that he’s even expressed excitement at the idea, I stress the idea possibility, of playing with Jadon Sancho,” Ornstein revealed in his podcast for The Athletic.
“We’re not saying that’s definitely going to happen but that would appear to suggest Manchester United’s midfield certainly now has the numbers in so I don’t see recruitment coming in there.
“Perhaps that might move the conversation away from Jack Grealish or anybody else, Donny van de Beek etc.”
With options aplenty Solskjaer is now satisfied with his midfield options, meaning he can focus on strengthening other areas such as the right wing.
Solskjaer also has the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay, Juan Mata, Andreas Pereira and Bruno Fernandes as options in the middle of the park.
Fernandes has had the biggest impact in United’s 16-game unbeaten of late and bagged a sublime free-kick in their recent 5-2 rout of Bournemouth.
