Former Nebraska football player Alfonzo Dennard is scheduled to be in court July 31 to learn if his latest brush with Lincoln police could put him in jail on a probation violation. Dennard, 23, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving early Thursday in Lincoln. Authorities have said that the accusation could be grounds for a Lancaster County District Court judge to revoke his probation and put him in jail for last year’s assault on a Lincoln officer. The judge also could give the ex-Husker — now a cornerback for the New England Patriots — another chance. His revocation hearing comes six days after players for the Patriots are due back in Massachusetts for training. Dennard is required to appear — unless his attorney seeks and is granted a different court date.
