Linebacker Patrick Willis did not practice this week due to a groin strain and might see an end to his streak of 56 consecutive games started. Willis is considered a game-time decision for the 49ers’ game Thursday night against the St. Louis Rams. Teams must submit their list of seven inactive players 90 minutes before kickoff. Willis and third cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha were the only eligible 49ers players who did not practice this week. Asomugha is nursing a right knee sprain and is not expected to play. Willis and Asomugha were injured in the second half of the 49ers’ 27-7 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. If Willis unable to play linebacker Michael Wilhoite would make his first NFL start. Willis who earned Pro Bowl honors in each of his six NFL seasons has started the past 51 regular-season and five postseason games. Tramaine Brock would most likely take over the No. 3 cornerback duties for Asomugha. Tight end Vernon Davis who sat out the 49ers’ loss to the Colts with a left hamstring strain returned to limited practice this week. A decision on his status will be made after he takes part in pregame warmups.
