The Detroit Red Wings are awaiting word on forward Patrick Eaves after he took a bad spill. Eaves fell during today’s practice at Joe Louis Arena and had to be helped off by several teammates. A club spokesman said Eaves has a lower-body injury — he appeared to be limping — and was to go to hospital for evaluation. Eaves 29 has had a tough go of it the past few years. He suffered a severe concussion in November 2011 that sidelined him the rest of the season. He wasn't cleared to play until just before the 2013 lockout-shortened season was to get under way. He ended up playing 34 games.
