Artemi Panarin said he plans to become an unrestricted free agent July 1, but the Columbus Blue Jackets forward denied he has decided which team he will sign with.
"It's one life, one chance for free agency and I want to test free agency," Panarin told the Columbus Dispatch on Friday in his first public comments since letting the Blue Jackets know Jan. 25 he would discuss his future after the season.
"Seriously, guys, I don't have a team; I don't have one team where I want to go," the 27-year-old said. "... We'll see what happens in the summer, but right now I don't know what I want. [The Blue Jackets] have a chance, but … we'll see what happens in the summer. I want to still [consider] this season and help the team win the Stanley Cup."
