The Padres have signed first baseman/outfielder Allen Craig to a minor league contract, according to a source. The deal includes an invitation to major league spring training, where the former All-Star will make his latest attempt at a career revival. Craig, 33, last played in the majors in 2015, batting .152 in 36 games for Boston. The Temecula native never found his footing with the Red Sox, who acquired him from St. Louis in 2014. Craig spent most of the last two seasons in Triple-A. The Red Sox paid him $11 million in 2017, but released him in June.
