The San Diego Padres are looking for their first playoff berth in nearly a decade-and-a-half and could be making a big push for it at the trade deadline.

Jon Morosi of MLB.com reported on Thursday that the Padres are evaluating Detroit Tigers lefty Matthew Boyd as a possible trade acquisition. Morosi also says that Detroit prefers to land at least one potential All-Star position player in a deal for Boyd and lists Padres outfielders Hunter Renfroe and Franmil Reyes as possibilities.
