The San Diego Padres have released left-handed pitcher Travis Wood, the team announced on Wednesday. Wood started 11 games as a member of the San Diego organization, first acquired by the club in July in a deal with the Kansas City Royals. After a rough start to 2017 with the Royals, Wood was hammered across 11 starts with the Padres. He posted a 6.71 ERA and 3-4 record, while yielding 15 home runs in 52.1 innings of work. A season prior, Wood was a member of the World Series Champion Chicago Cubs. He made 77 appearances out of relief in 2016, posting a 2.95 ERA in the only season of his career in which he has not made a start.
