The plan to convert Edmond Sumner from two-way contract finally came to fruition Monday when the Pacers elevated him to a full NBA deal for the rest of the season with a team option for 2019-20, league sources tell IndyStar.
Sumner, a 6-6 combo guard who can play some small forward, has appeared in 17 games this season going into tonight's game vs. the Charlotte Hornets. He has made two starts.
While his output is modest, 2.4 points and 1.1 rebounds, it's all about upside with him.
The Pacers (36-19) had him with the parent club to start the season and sent him to the G-League monitoring his health with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
