Oregon State freshman guard Chai Baker is in "critical but stable condition" after collapsing during a men's basketball team workout, a university spokesman told The Oregonian late Wednesday morning. When Baker collapsed Tuesday morning, a Beavers staff member gave Baker immediate CPR before using a heart defibrillator, said Steve Clark, vice president for university relations and marketing. Baker was then rushed to Good Samaritan Medical Center, where he remains in the intensive care unit. "Thankfully we had staff respond who were able to assist him in an immediate and effective way," Clark said. "EMTs were able to arrive in a very responsive way."
