For the first time since he was hiring an offensive coordinator in 2015, Bob Stoops interviewed Lincoln Riley.

This time, of course, it wasn’t a job interview, but an interview for a segment on Fox Sports’ Big Noon Kickoff. Stoops is in his first year as a panelist on the show, having replaced Urban Meyer, who left to become the Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach.

Big Noon Kickoff will broadcast live Saturday from Norman, where No. 3 Oklahoma is hosting Nebraska in a marquee non-conference matchup that reignites one of the greatest rivalries in college football history.

“It wasn’t awkward,” Riley told a small group of local reporters Thursday afternoon of his meeting with Stoops. “It was a lot more calm and easy than the job interview.

“It was just honestly kind of like us having conversations like we do. Probably one of the easier ones I’ve done. He’s a natural. (It felt like) being interviewed by a complete pro that’s been doing it for 20-something years. He was awesome.”

A reporter followed up and asked Riley if Stoops asks better questions than other media.
