Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield tells Robert Klemko of TheMMQB.com that he was late to arrive at the Senior Bowl because his mother had a heart issue and is waiting on results of an echocardiogram. Mayfield mentioned that the only upside in regards to being at the Senior Bowl this week was to speak with teams: “That’s the only upside for me [being here]. I’m confident I can show exactly what I’m about, how much I care about football and how I’d do anything to win. And not just that. Put me on a board and let me show you how much I know about the game. Let me show that I can pick information up, take it and run with it. Getting in front of these people was so important, even bigger than the three years of film I put together.” Mayfield tells Klemko that he met at length with the Saints, Bills, Jets and Dolphins this week. A few days ago, Charles Robinson reported that there has been buzz for about a month now that Saints HC Sean Payton is “squarely in the camp of Baker Mayfield believers.” Robinson adds that the talk of Payton having interest in Mayfield is “not going away” at the Senior Bowl.
