Oklahoma has landed its quarterback in 2018. The Sooners received a verbal from Waco (Texas) Midway signal-caller Tanner Mordecai on Thursday. The Lone Star State passer chose to play for Bob Stoops, Lincoln Riley and company over an offer list that included local Baylor, Georgia North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Northwestern, Missouri and Texas Tech. One source told 247Sports he has “a little Baker Mayfield in him.” Another says Mordecai checks all the boxes. “He has the hidden component,” Mordecai’s quarterback coach Kevin Murray of Air 14 Football said. “The hidden component, you can’t see it from the naked eye, that internal desire to be something special.” Mordecai will now look to add to the special history in Norman.
