A growing Ohio State 2018 recruiting class got bigger Saturday when 4-star prospect Matthew Jones committed to the Buckeyes. A product of Brooklyn (N.Y.) Erasmus Hall — the same school that gave Ohio State former H-back Curtis Samuel — Jones ranks as the No. 53 overall player in the 2018 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Although New York’s No. 1 prospect is also listed as the nation’s No. 3 defensive tackle, the 6-foot-4, 315-pound player possesses the potential to play offensive line for the Buckeyes. Ohio State offensive line coach Greg Studrawa served as one of Jones’ chief recruiters. Jones committed to Ohio State while in town for the Buckeyes’ third and final one-day camp of the summer. With Jones in the fold, Ohio State now boasts the nation’s No. 1 class in 2018. He is the 14th commitment to a class that now includes 10 top-100 players. Should he wind up on Ohio State’s offensive line, he would be the second player at the position in the class, joining 4-star tackle Max Wray.
