Driving around Michigan State’s campus on a golf cart with Tom Izzo this week, Kyle Ahrens knew he was seeing the campus where he wanted to spend his college basketball career. “Non-stop, I was smiling at everything,” Ahrens said. “It made me feel like home. My parents knew right away, they were sitting back just smiling. They knew right away. I loved every second of it.” Ahrens, a 6-foot-5, 215-pound Class of 2015 shooting guard from Versailles, Ohio, wrapped up his official visit to Michigan with a commitment to Izzo and the Spartans on Thursday night. A three-star recruit, Ahrens has been ranked the No. 136 in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. He also held offers from Boston College, Dayton, Xavier and others.
