On a day when a local radio station published an article with the title of "Is it time to trade Keith Yandle?" Keith Yandle stole the show. Led by Yandle's three primary assists and Martin Hanzal's pair of goals, the Phoenix Coyotes defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-3. Ten different Coyotes players recorded a point as the Yotes once again put up five goals on the Blue Jackets. Phoenix improved its record to 7-6-2 with the victory and will end the night in ninth place in the Western Conference. The first period turned out to be a shootout as four goals were scored in the first eight minutes of the game. Jared Boll opened the scoring by slapping a puck past a screened Mike Smith just 2:09 into the game. David Moss tied the game after being released from the penalty box and tapping in a Mikkel Boedker behind the net "pass" into the Columbus net. Ninety seconds later, the Yotes took the lead as Radim Vrbata wristed a Marty Hanzal pass past Steve Mason. The lead was short lived however, as the Blue Jackets tied the game exactly one minute later. David Rundblad pinched up at the red line, causing a two-on-one breakaway for the Jackets. Kyle Chipchura gave the Coyotes a 3-2 lead after a beautiful set-up by Keith Yandle that put the puck on Chipper's stick just a couple feet in front of the net.
