Darren O’Day threw in Sarasota Fla. today and it’s possible that he could rejoin the Orioles on Wednesday in Boston. O’Day hasn’t pitched since Sept. 7 because of numbness in two fingers of his right hand. After undergoing a battery of tests O’Day said hand specialist Dr. Brian Schofield in Sarasota and he was cleared to throw. “He threw off the mound. He threw all his pitches. He felt pretty good. See how he feels in the morning when he comes in” manager Buck Showalter said. “He’s still got just a little bit of soreness from the actual injections. He seems to be making progress.” Showalter said that O’Day’s numbness was caused by a compressed nerve. “If you get the inflammation out of there then the nerve is no longer compressed” Showalter said.
