The A's have acquired infielder Alberto Callaspo from the Los Angeles Angels for minor league infielder Grant Green according to several media reports Tuesday night. Callaspo 30 is hitting .253 with five home runs and 36 RBIs. He was removed from the Angels' game with Texas Rangers. Green meanwhile was a last-minute scratch from the lineup of the Triple-A Sacramento RiverCats. Callaspo is capable of playing second base shortstop and third base but has played almost exclusively at third for the Angels the past three seasons. He will likely get most of his playing time with the A's at second a position he hasn't played since 2010. The 25-year-old Green the A's first-round pick in the 2009 draft (13th overall) has shown potential to hit in the minors but the club had difficulty finding a position for him. He was originally drafted as a shortstop but proved too error-prone and his defensive woes have continued at second base. Green had a brief trial with the A's this month going 0 for 15 with an RBI before being optioned to Sacramento.
