Nolan Ryan made just one World Series appearance in his legendary 27-year career, but he made it count winning the 1969 World Series with the New York Mets.

A member of the famed “Miracle Mets,” Ryan played 25 games with the club. Then, he pitched 2 1/3 innings and picked up the save in Game 3 of the 1969 World Series, which the Mets won in five games against the Baltimore Orioles.

Though that memory must be sweet, Ryan has opted not to attend the 50th anniversary celebration of that World Series victory, giving no reason for the decision.
