More reinforcements will join the Astros in time for Sunday’s series finale against the Athletics. After Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Oakland the Astros announced that they had recalled four players from Class AAA Oklahoma City which was eliminated from the postseason Friday night. Infielder/outfielder Jimmy Paredes infielder Brandon Laird and righthanders David Martinez and Rhiner Cruz were recalled. The Astros also outrighted righthander Hector Ambriz off the 40-man roster and reinstated righthander Edgar Gonzalez from the 60-day disabled list before outrighting him to Class AA Corpus Christi. Laird had 16 home runs and 79 RBIs while hitting .277 in 119 games with OKC. Paredes had eight home runs 21 doubles six triples 37 RBIs and 16 stolen bases in just 86 games. Cruz was 1-2 with a 4.75 ERA in 37 appearances with the RedHawks while Martinez was 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA in three appearances for OKC.
