Luuk de Jong is heading to Newcastle United, as revealed by Simon Bird in this morning's Daily Mirror. Borussia Monchengladbach have confirmed in German the striker is heading to the north-east for a medical ahead of a move to the Magpies. The 23-year-old has featured 13 times for the German side this year, but each of those appearances has been as a substitute. Indeed, so out of favour is the Dutchman with Gladbach boss Lucien Favre, that those 13 appearances have totalled just 85 MINUTES of Bundesliga action for De Jong. However, 18 months after failing to sign the player when he was lighting up Dutch football with FC Twente, Alan Pardew will now get his man.
