The Mets seriously pursued Trevor Bauer before he signed with the Dodgers, and, on Monday, team president Sandy Alderson said the team is "very happy" with their roster even without Bauer. Alderson seemed to joke Bauer would've been New York's third or fourth starter, and also discussed Bauer's social media behavior.

After losing out on Bauer, the Mets pivoted to Taijuan Walker, who will join Jacob deGrom, Marcus Stroman, and Carlos Carrasco in the rotation. Joey Lucchesi and David Peterson are among those competing for the fifth starter's spot until Syndergaard returns.
