In just his second game with the Rockets, Joe Johnson played 22 minutes on Friday, making 4 of 6 shots for 10 points. Though some of his playing time might have come with Eric Gordon sitting out with an illness, Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni seemed to make it clear he would be carving out minutes for the most recent addition to his rotation. "Joe Johnson played really well," D'Antoni said. "He's getting more comfortable, especially in the second half. I've known Joe forever and he's a machine. He just keeps playing, doesn't get tired, he's strong, and just really understands his game. If you watch it, he's really good." Prior to Friday, Johnson had played in just one game in more than two weeks. But he said the Rockets' two practices after the All-Star break helped him get ready to take a place in rotation.
